Drumline the Movie
Drumline the Movie with Nick Cannon and Zoe Saldana side by side is a black film that shows the world of Black show bands unmasked for the first time. It is characterized by very funky beats and the high stepping and often fantastic dance moves of college marching bands. This movie is considered a fish out of water tale by many and also a coming of age comedy. The movie Drumline is set in Atl which is the center point of the black college experience. This is where a native of Harlem named Devon Miles (Nick cannon) who is confident in his snare drumming abilities attends Atlanta A&T university. He gets to go to school on a full scholarship and becomes the key recruit in the history of the entire school and its marching band program. He struggles to fit in with his fellow freshmen. He faces many other challenges while at the school including confrontations with fellow band members and the occasional head butting with Dr. Lee his band director who is stuck in the past when it comes to music in the eyes of his band members.In the movie the character of Devon has his scholarship and his future put in Jeopardy when Dr. Lee and his fellow band mates learn that he does not know how to read music. As this is a requirement for him to be on the squad he struggles with this during the end. In all this movie is very inspirational and at times very heartfelt. Nick Cannon gives a great performance and the Drumline Cadences are sharp. The movie drumline is considered to be Nick Cannon’s greatest performance by many and it is not hard to see why with his realistic and stellar acting performance. Zoe Saldana is also very appealing in the movie and lets her talent shine through.
