The Great Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry is a household name in the homes of black people in America as well as any other nationality. Tyler Perry plays have been watched by countless Americans as well as people in many other countries around the world. The Tyler Perry Biography begins humbly on September 13th of the year 1989 and includes the fact that he is the 6th highest paid person in Hollywood according to the Forbes magazine. His films alone have grossed over 500 million dollars from a worldwide standpoint in the year 2009. This is an amazing feat for a man that started off solely producing stage plays that were set in the south in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The first Tyler Perry movie that was a feature film was his highly acclaimed Diary of a Mad Black Woman but since then he has been all over Hollywood and has been responsible for a couple television shows as well as a host of movies in his Madea series and has made a name for himself and his production company Tyler Perry Studios.

Tyler Perry was born in the city of New Orleans in Louisiana and was named Emmitt Perry Jr. He has 3 siblings all from Willie Maxine Perry (his mother) and his Emmitt Perry the first. His father was a carpenter and was very abusive to Perry and his siblings. Tyler once even attempted suicide in order to stop suffering his father’s beatings at one point in his life. His mother was a very loving woman who took Perry to church every week and in church Perry found some solace and a place to find contentment in his life. Perry has had many hard times in his life previous to his explosive success including the fact he was molested by the mother of a friend at age 10 and also being molested by 3 other men in his lifetime. Though Perry did not graduate from high school he has always had a talent for writing and one of his musicals entitled I Know I’ve Been Changed is based on his experience writing letters to himself to release stress and pain in his life. Based on his past Perry truly encompasses all the ideals of the American Dream.
